We're surrounded by it at this time of year, lovey dovey gooey stuff. That's fine if you have someone to share it with but that can be easier said than done.

The feeling that it suddenly matters what you look like, feel like, enjoy and want to share with another person can be quite overwhelming.

Water - Whatever the Weather!

Are you drinking enough? Water is your friend, your body is made of 70% of the stuff. Ordinarily we should be drinking 6-8 glasses per day. If you're not used to it start by increasing your daily amount gradually. Try 1 glass before each meal and add an extra glass each day. Remember tea, coffee and fizzy drinks don't count. Mostly they are diuretics so you'll need to drink even more water to balance them out. There is always someone who tells me they don't like water. If that's you try it chilled in the fridge with some fresh fruit chopped into it. Do you forget to drink? why not try giving yourself little reminders? I always keep an empty glass by the kettle it reminds me to have a glass of water every time I go to put the kettle on. More often than not I drink the water and forget to go back and make the coffee, but it works! Why not try it and see how it works for you?

Walk Your Way To Health

Walking is one of the simplest forms of exercise. For those of us that can it should be appreciated. How much walking do you do? From the front door to the car door, from the car door to the office door and back again is often as much as many of us manage on a daily basis. What effort would it take to increase that just a little? the health benefits of walking are huge. the reccomended amount is around 10'000 steps per day. How does that compare to your lifestyle?

Here are a  few suggestions, no doubt you may have tried one or two from time to time but put into action they really can make a difference to your health;

  • A brisk walk for 20 minutes at lunch time has the benefit of burning off  few of those midday calories and leaves you feeling refreshed and ready to face the afternoon.
  • Don't clamour for those parking spaces near the supermarket doors, park at the other end away from the bussle of everyone else. Trolleys have wheels for a reason and you can walk those extra few steps.
  • Walk the children to school or at least park a couple of streets away. It's often just as quick as fighting for the last space just outside the school gates and much less stressful.
  • Go out for a walk at the weekend. you don't have to get green wellies if it's not your thing but get out in the fresh air whatever the weather it's a great way to clear your mind.
